Grown-Up Grilled Cheese Sandwiches



With a mix of sharp cheddar and gruyere cheeses, caramelized onions, arugula, and a hint of Dijon mustard, this Grown-Up grilled cheese sandwich is a step up from the classic one. Perfect for a meal that makes you feel full and spoiled.

Ingredients:

  • 20 slices of high-quality bread
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded gruyere cheese
  • 1 cup caramelized onions
  • 1/2 cup arugula leaves
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

On one side of each piece of bread, spread a lot of softened butter

Shred the cheddar and gruyere cheeses and mix them together in a bowl

Put a piece of bread on a griddle or pan that has been heated up and set it over medium-low heat

On one slice of bread, spread a teaspoon of Dijon mustard

Then, put a layer of caramelized onions on top

Finally, add a handful of mixed cheese and a few arugula leaves

Butter the top of another slice of bread and put it on top

About 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until the bread turns golden brown and the cheese begins to melt

Do the same thing with the rest of the sandwiches

Once they are done, take them off the griddle and let them cool a bit

Then, cut each sandwich in half

This Grown-Up Grilled Cheese Sandwich is best served hot and crispy
